Coaching Dates :
I am coaching all over Ireland and the UK in 2009. If you look opposite you can see my next four clinics. If I am coaching at a town near you then please get in touch and we can possibly arrange to fit you in.
The list of courses will be constantly updated with new venues as the old ones are completed. If you are interested in organising lessons or coaching with myself at my place or yours then please get in touch.
When I sat down to build this site I knew exactly how I wanted to build it. I used XHTML and CSS for the initial build and then cut it into PHP for the integration with WordPress. I used WordPress for the backend of this website to make it easy for me to update the blog on my travels and also make it easy to update the latest work etc. I added some Jquery javascript schnizzle in the header and footer to help boost the users experience. I used some interesting bits of PHP in the build and quite a nice little snippet for keeping the copyright up to date. I used Feeds from Twitter, Flickr and Delicious to allow for constantly changing content. The static background image also works great and is easily changeable. I am very happy with the outcome.

No12 is a design company I set up along with my friend Andrew Buchannen back in November of 2008. We have set out on a mission to become one of the top design studios in the North Coast area. The No12 site was built using XHTML and CSS for the page layout. This was converted to PHP and different includes were added for things such as latest work etc. The backend of the site is driven by WordPress for the ease to update content. This website also uses JQuery to slide different straplines in something I think looks very effective. I also used Twitter and Flickr feeds in this website to give that nice constantly changing feel. The colour scheme on this site is one of the best I have ever used and I really like the way the Green stands out on strap lines etc.

Eugene wanted something that was a step up from the websites he had built in the past. He wanted to be able to update content and let people know what he was at whilst on the move. He travels all over the world so two things really came to mind to help him achieve this. I decided to include twitter in the header to have something that would attract users to come back for more info each day. I also decided to use wordpress and was able to teach Eugene how to work it in less than a few hours. I also added a google map that can be changed inside WordPress to allow him to update his location wherever he is in the world. He is more than happy with the website and once the shop is complete it will be appearing in Irish racer magazine for a review.

Space For Yourself is a counseling practice based in Belfast and when they came to our university class asking for a logo I immediately thought about sitting down in a comfortable surrounding. That is something that stuck with me all the way through designing this logo. I started thinking about the title “space for yourself” and what it actually meant to me. I started playing around with shapes and was able to enclose a person sitting inside the C which seems to work really well and fitted perfectly inline with my train of thought. I used Adobe Illustrator for this brand.

This website took a lot of thinking. Putting together a design took that tiny bit longer as you had to take in a huge amount of considerations about your target audience. The website like the logo had to be roomy and spacious with not to much going on. It still had to maintain the corporate look and feel professional. I decided to choose a natural colour palette rather than having bright vibrant colours jumping out at you. I designed it inside Adobe Photoshop first and then built it using XHTML and CSS. I used JQuery to show off some header images that related to the project. It was my first experience using JQuery and you can see that I have been using it more and more in the projects above. This design is IE6 Compatible.

Mussenden Development wanted a website to show off their properties not just for a viewing purpose but to advertise them for sale and for rent. I decided to build it using XHTML and CSS and use CSS classes for the links to allow for a different colour of link for each section. For instance orange for the portfolio section. I feel this will help highlight the difference of each section to the user. I also decided to use Flash and XML for the galleries as I felt this was the best way to show off lots of photos but still give the user an interactive experience.

This site I set up to showcase my work from the first semester. It was built using CSS and XHTML. I chose a nice bright red to stand out from the grey. I really like the way the colours compliment each other. This was one of my favourite sites I have ever built. I think from a usability point of view with the weeks listed down the right hand side it is very appealing to any user. If you click the other tabs you can see that I also set up a different stylesheet for a white theme. I used certain aspects from this website in my portfolio site such as the backgrounds on rollovers. This site also contains some great motion graphic features that I was working on for my major project at university. Have a look through the weeks if you get a chance.

Xtreme boat sales approached me to build a website that would help them show off their boats in the best possibly manner. I built this site using XHTML and CSS. I used Flash for the title headings and for the galleries. I think this worked great as it allowed me to animate the galleries and help make the user feel more interactive with the website. I used XML and Flash for the news feed which was quite handy as it allowed me to update the news quite easily inside the XML file. Glastron boats in the US sent an email to Xtreme thanking them in the way they had shown their boats off on the website which was great news for me.

Xplore Outdoors was one of the first websites I ever built. It is mainly flash based but the core of the site is made up using XHTML and CSS. I use to think this site was the best. I still like it but if I was going to make something like this again I would definitely make it inside WordPress to allow the guys at Xplore to update the website at will. I do really like the images I used in this website and still think it has that nice outdoor feel. I think the background image resembles a climbing wall which was the look I was after. Have a look and see what you think. I would cut down the flash in the next one to make it more compatible with the iPhone. It is now 3 years old and due an upgrade soon.
